ABSTRACT

Owing to the continuous variant of the COVID-19 virus, the present epidemic may persist for a long time, and each breakout displays strongly region/time-dependent characteristics. Predicting each specific burst is the basic task for the corresponding strategies. However, the refinement of prevention and control measures usually means the limitation of the existing records of the evolution of the spread, which leads to a special difficulty in making predictions. Taking into account the interdependence of people' s travel behaviors and the epidemic spreading, we propose a modified logistic model to mimic the COVID-19 epidemic spreading, in order to predict the evolutionary behaviors for a specific bursting in a megacity with limited epidemic related records. It continuously reproduced the COVID-19 infected records in Shanghai, China in the period from March 1 to June 28, 2022. From December 7, 2022 when Mainland China adopted new detailed prevention and control measures, the COVID-19 epidemic broke out nationwide, and the infected people themselves took "ibuprofen” widely to relieve the symptoms of fever. A reasonable assumption is that the total number of searches for the word "ibuprofen” is a good representation of the number of infected people. By using the number of searching for the word "ibuprofen” provided on Baidu, a famous searching platform in Mainland China, we estimate the parameters in the modified logistic model and predict subsequently the epidemic spreading behavior in Shanghai, China starting from December 1, 2022. This situation lasted for 72 days. The number of the infected people increased exponentially in the period from the beginning to the 24th day, reached a summit on the 31st day, and decreased exponentially in the period from the 38th day to the end. Within the two weeks centered at the summit, the increasing and decreasing speeds are both significantly small, but the increased number of infected people each day was significantly large. The characteristic for this prediction matches very well with that for the number of metro passengers in Shanghai. It is suggested that the relevant departments should establish a monitoring system composed of some communities, hospitals, etc. according to the sampling principle in statistics to provide reliable prediction records for researchers. © 2023 Chinese Physical Society.

ABSTRACT

Aim. To determine the prevalence and show the features of the development of newly diagnosed heart failure (HF) in patients with dyspnea after a coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Material and methods. This clinical prospective observational study was conducted during 2020-2022. The study consecutively included 368 outpatients with shortness of breath, who applied to the clinic. Depending on the presence of prior COVID-19, the patients were divided into 2 groups: the first group consisted of 205 patients with shortness of breath after COVID-19, the second group - 163 patients without prior COVID-19. All patients underwent a clinical examination within 3 days after presentation with an assessment of outpatient records and other medical documents for the differential diagnosis of dyspnea. The severity of dyspnea was determined using the Modified Medical Research Council Dyspnoea Scale (mMRC). The diagnosis of HF was verified in accordance with the 2020 Russian Society of Cardiology guidelines and in some cases reclassified in accordance with the 2021European Society of Cardiology guidelines. For further analysis, 2 subgroups of patients with HF were identified depending on the presence and absence of prior COVID-19. The subgroup analysis excluded patients with acute heart failure, acute illness, and conditions requiring hospitalization and/or intensive care. Results. Among 368 patients who presented to the clinic with dyspnea during 2020-2022, 205 patients (55,7%) had COVID-19. The average period of treatment after COVID-19 was 3,5 [1,5;22,4] months. Patients after COVID-19 applied earlier after the onset of dyspnea, which is associated with higher mMRC score. The prevalence of HF among patients with shortness of breath after COVID-19 was significantly higher than in patients without this pathology in history, and amounted to 19,0% vs 9,8% (p=0,021). Prior COVID-19 increased the relative risk (RR) of HF in patients with shortness of breath by 1,7 times. RR for HF in systolic blood pressure >140 mm Hg increased by 1,9 times, while in diastolic blood pressure >90 mm Hg - by 1,9 times, with the development of a hypertensive crisis - by 28%, with a heart rate >80 bpm at rest - by 1,4 times, with the development of type 2 diabetes - by 31%, in the presence of pulmonary fibrosis - by 2,3 times. Patients with shortness of breath after COVID-19 had more severe HF, both according to clinical tests and according to the blood concentration of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), mainly with the preserved ejection fraction (EF) with a higher prevalence of left atrial (LA) enlargement in combination with a decrease in right ventricular (RV) systolic function and its dilatation. In patients after COVID-19 in the presence of chronic kidney disease, the RR for HF increased by 4,5 times;in the presence of C-reactive protein >4 mg/l - by 1,6 times. Conclusion. Every fifth patient with shortness of breath 3,5 months after COVID-19 had more severe HF, both according to clinical tests and according to blood NT-proBNP concentration, mainly with preserved EF with a higher prevalence of LA increase in combination with a decrease in RV systolic function and its dilatation. Featured ApplicationThe research has a potential application in the field of fake news detection. By using the feature extraction technique, TwIdw, proposed in this paper, more relevant and informative features can be extracted from the text data, which can lead to an enhancement in the accuracy of the classification models employed in these tasks.This research proposes a novel technique for fake news classification using natural language processing (NLP) methods. The proposed technique, TwIdw (Term weight–inverse document weight), is used for feature extraction and is based on TfIdf, with the term frequencies replaced by the depth of the words in documents. The effectiveness of the TwIdw technique is compared to another feature extraction method—basic TfIdf. Classification models were created using the random forest and feedforward neural networks, and within those, three different datasets were used. The feedforward neural network method with the KaiDMML dataset showed an increase in accuracy of up to 3.9%. The random forest method with TwIdw was not as successful as the neural network method and only showed an increase in accuracy with the KaiDMML dataset (1%). The feedforward neural network, on the other hand, showed an increase in accuracy with the TwIdw technique for all datasets. Precision and recall measures also confirmed good results, particularly for the neural network method. The TwIdw technique has the potential to be used in various NLP applications, including fake news classification and other NLP classification problems.

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus often called COVID-19 is a deadly viral disease that causes as a result of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 that needs to be identified especially at its early stages, and failure of which can lead to the further spread of the virus. Despite with the huge success recorded towards the use of the original convolutional neural networks (CNN) of deep learning models. However, their architecture needs to be modified to design their modified versions that can have more powerful feature layer extractors to improve their classification performance. This research is aimed at designing a modified CNN of a deep learning model that can be applied to interpret X-rays to classify COVID-19 cases with improved performance. Therefore, we proposed a modified convolutional neural network (shortened as modification CNN) approach that uses X-rays to classify a COVID-19 case by combining VGG19 and ResNet50V2 along with putting additional dense layers to the combined feature layer extractors. The proposed modified CNN achieved 99.24%, 98.89%, 98.90%, 99.58%, and 99.23% of the overall accuracy, precision, specificity, sensitivity, and F1-Score, respectively. This demonstrates that the results of the proposed approach show a promising classification performance in the classification of COVID-19 cases. © 2023 Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science. ABSTRACT

PurposeThis study explores Greek and Swedish consumers' attitude towards organic food consumption in order to demonstrate possible differences that can be identified based on health and ecological consciousness beliefs rather than demographic factors. The examination of an emerging and a more mature market allow the authors to provide more targeted marketing strategies that possibly increase organic food consumption in both countries.Design/methodology/approachThe authors adopt an econometric approach to the analysis of consumer behavior in relation to organic food consumption in Sweden and Greece. More specifically, the authors examine the motivations and postexperiences of organic food consumers of different socioeconomic profiles in these two countries, one in northern and one in southern Europe. The authors apply an ordered logistic regression analysis model to map out the interaction between consumer attitudes and sociodemographic variables.FindingsThe authors results show that consumers in Sweden more frequently purchase organic foods than consumers in Greece. Environmental protection and ethical values increase the odds for Swedish organic food consumers to buy organic food products. Health consciousness and family well-being are perceived as factors that increase the odds for Greek organic food consumers to buy organic foods. Sociodemographic factors do not play a pivotal role for consumer behavior in relation to organic food in both countries.Originality/valueThis study distinguishes between organic food consumers in two countries with different levels of organic food production and export activity, size of organic market, national organic labeling system and legal definition and standards of organic food. Within these differences, the organic food industry could align its marketing efforts better rather focus on simplistic demographics. The current view unfolds the fact that there are limited studies comparing two European markets at different stages of development and the factors that influence organic food consumer behavior.

ABSTRACT

Post-COVID syndrome develops after COVID-19 (COronaVIrus Disease 2019) and leads to cumulative effects in the form of shortness of breath and impaired lung function. Notably, patients with airway inflammation and COVID-19 were found to have increased concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA). Since bovhyaluronidase azoximer (Longidase) catalyzes the hydrolysis of HA, this drug has the potential to reduce HA levels and improve lung function in patients with post-COVID syndrome. The aim of the DISSOLVE trial, which was conducted early in the pandemic, was to investigate the efficacy and safety of bovhyaluronidase azoximer in patients with symptoms associated with post-COVID syndrome. Methods. An open, prospective, controlled, comparative, multicenter clinical trial (NCT04645368) included adult patients (n = 160) who had post-COVID syndrome. Patients in the treatment group (n = 81) received bovhyaluronidase azoximer, and individuals in the control group (n = 79) were followed up without intervention. The study included physical examination, evaluation of forced vital capacity (FVC), assessment of dyspnea with the Modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale (mMRC), 6-minute walking test, and pulse oximetry. These indicators were measured on 3 visits, at days 1 (baseline), 75, and 180. In addition, the number of patients who experienced adverse events and serious adverse events were recorded. Results. Baseline patient characteristics in the treatment group and the control group were similar. In the treatment group, there was a statistically significant reduction in residual pulmonary abnormalities after visit 2 (day 75) and visit 3 (day 180). In addition, FVC, pulse oximetry values, and functional exercise tolerance increased statistically significantly at days 75 and 180 compared to baseline. The mMRC scores for dyspnea decreased statistically significantly in the treatment group over 75 days. The safety profile of the drug was reported to be favorable throughout the study. Conclusion. Treatment with bovhyaluronidase azoximer in patients with post-COVID syndrome showed improvement in FVC, pulse oximetry, functional exercise tolerance, and mMRC dyspnea.Copyright © Chuchalin A.G. et al., 2023.

ABSTRACT

Spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage (SICH) remains the most devastating type of stroke with the highest morbidity and mortality. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, serious modifications have been made in health care systems, affecting patients with all kinds of disease, including SICH. This study compared mortality rates, and clinical and functional outcomes of patients diagnosed with SICH in the pre-COVID-19 and COVID-19 time periods. Retrospective analysis was performed using patient data from Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital from 2018 to 2021, dividing it into two subgroups based on the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, 329 patients in total were analysed. No statistically significant differences were found in mortality rate (p = 0.389) and neurological status at hospital admission (p = 0.309) between the time periods prior to COVID-19 and during the COVID-19 period. A statistically significant difference was found in the clinical status of patients (p = 0.016) measured using the Glasgow Coma Scale, indicating a worse level of consciousness of patients diagnosed with SICH at the time of admission to the hospital in the COVID-19 period. No statistically significant differences were found in the clinical outcome (p = 0.204) and functional outcome (p = 0.556) of the patients at discharge from the hospital. In the COVID-19 period, admission of patients with SICH fell by 25%. For patients with SICH, the COVID-19 pandemic was associated with a reduced admission rate and a worse level of consciousness at the time of admission, calling for further research to identify what caused it and how to avoid delayed medical help in the case of the development of acute neurological symptoms during the COVID-19 outbreak. © 2023 Inese Blimhena-Pastare et al., published by Sciendo.

ABSTRACT

In the present paper, a mathematical model using the non-linear differential equations depicting the impact of Covid-19 on unemployment is discussed. The stability of the system is studied and model is reformulated as an optimal control problem. To assess the impact of unemployment on human population, two time-dependent controls are used. Providing education and training of job-oriented persons act as first control and campaigning about the awareness of coronavirus disease and self-employment business is the second control. Necessary conditions for optimal control are derived by Pontryagins maximum principle. Further, the results are illustrated by numerical simulation.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Various diagnostic tools are used to assess the severity of COVID-19 symptoms and the risk of mortality, including laboratory tests and scoring indices such as the Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS). The diagnostic value of inflammatory markers for assessing patients with different severity of COVID-19 symptoms according to the MEWS was evaluated in this study. Materials and Methods: The concentrations of CRP (C-reactive protein) (immunoassay) and IL6 (interleukin 6) (electrochemiluminescence assay) were determined, and CRP/IL6, CRP/L, and LCR ratios were calculated in blood serum samples collected from 374 COVID-19 patients. Results: We demonstrated that CRP, IL6, CRP/IL6, CRP/L, LCR inflammatory markers increase significantly with disease progression assessed based on the MEWS in COVID-19 patients and may be used to differentiating patients with severe and non-severe COVID-19 and to assess the mortality. Conclusion: The diagnostic value of inflammatory markers for assessing the risk of mortality and differentiating between patients with mild and severe COVID-19 was confirmed.

ABSTRACT

Fluid analysis is an initial approach for determining the underlying causes of body cavity effusions. Modified transudate is commonly diagnosed in pleural effusion in cats, however, it provides limited diagnostic information. Aims of this study were to investigate common etiologies causing different pleural fluid types and to evaluate the usefulness of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) for differentiating the etiology in modified transudates in cats. Pleural effusion samples from 122 cats were analyzed and classified into three types: transudate, modified transudate, and exudate. Causes of pleural effusion were classified into four conditions: cardiac disease, neoplasia, feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), and pyothorax. The relationship of underlying etiology and fluid types was described. The LDH levels in pleural fluid and plasma were compared between the causes in the samples classified as modified transudate. The fluid analysis of pleural effusion showed that modified transudate was the most common fluid type (44.2%). Neoplasia was predominantly diagnosed (38.5%) as the etiology of pleural effusion. There was no significant correlation between pleural fluid and plasma LDH level in any type of pleural fluid, suggesting that pleural fluid LDH does not appear to be affected by plasma LDH. The occurrence of modified transudate was not associated to its etiologies, however, the LDH level in modified transudates showed significant differences between etiologic groups. The LDH level in modified transudate was excellent in separating cardiac from non-cardiac diseases with a cut-off value of <535 U/L and separating FIP from non-FIP diseases with a cut-off value of >641 U/L. Based on the current findings, pleural fluid LDH can be a useful adjunctive marker for differentiating some causes of modified transudate pleural effusion and should be added in the routine diagnostic work-up of feline patients with pleural effusions.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of swift responses and the necessity of dependable technologies for vaccine development. Our team previously developed a fast cloning system for the modified vaccinia virus Ankara (MVA) vaccine platform. In this study, we reported on the construction and preclinical testing of a recombinant MVA vaccine obtained using this system. We obtained recombinant MVA expressing the unmodified full-length SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein containing the D614G amino-acid substitution (MVA-Sdg) and a version expressing a modified S protein containing amino-acid substitutions designed to stabilize the protein a in a pre-fusion conformation (MVA-Spf). S protein expressed by MVA-Sdg was found to be expressed and was correctly processed and transported to the cell surface, where it efficiently produced cell-cell fusion. Version Spf, however, was not proteolytically processed, and despite being transported to the plasma membrane, it failed to induce cell-cell fusion. We assessed both vaccine candidates in prime-boost regimens in the susceptible transgenic K18-human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (K18-hACE2) in mice and in golden Syrian hamsters. Robust immunity and protection from disease was induced with either vaccine in both animal models. Remarkably, the MVA-Spf vaccine candidate produced higher levels of antibodies, a stronger T cell response, and a higher degree of protection from challenge. In addition, the level of SARS-CoV-2 in the brain of MVA-Spf inoculated mice was decreased to undetectable levels. Those results add to our current experience and range of vaccine vectors and technologies for developing a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: Misinformation is a crucial problem, particularly online, and the success of debunking messages has so far been limited. In this study, we experimentally test how debunking text structure (truth sandwich vs. bottom-heavy) and headline format (statement vs. questions) affect the belief in misinformation across topics of the safety of COVID vaccines and GMO foods. DESIGN: Experimental online study. METHODS: A representative German sample of 4906 participants were randomly assigned to reading one of eight debunking messages in the experimentally varied formats and subsequently rated the acceptance of this message and the agreement to misinformation statements about the mentioned topics and an unrefuted control myth. RESULTS: While the debunking messages specifically decreased the belief in the targeted myth, these beliefs and the acceptance of the debunking message were unaffected by the text structures and headline formats. Yet, they were less successful when addressing individuals with strong pre-existing, incongruent attitudes and distrust in science. CONCLUSIONS: The risk of backfire effects in debunking misinformation is low. Text structure and headline format are of relatively little importance for the effectiveness of debunking messages. Instead, writers may need to pay attention to the text being comprehensive, trustworthy and persuasive to maximize effectiveness.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic caused significant human health and economic consequences. Due to the ability of SARS-CoV-2 to spread rapidly and to cause severe disease and mortality in certain population groups, vaccines are essential for controlling the pandemic in the future. Several licensed vaccines have shown improved protection against SARS-CoV-2 after extended-interval prime-boost immunizations in humans. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to compare the immunogenicity of our two Modified Vaccinia virus Ankara (MVA) based COVID-19 candidate vaccines MVA-SARS-2-S and MVA-SARS-2-ST after short- and long-interval prime-boost immunization schedules in mice. We immunized BALB/c mice using 21-day (short-interval) or 56-day (long-interval) prime-boost vaccination protocols and analyzed spike (S)-specific CD8 T cell immunity and humoral immunity. The two schedules induced robust CD8 T cell responses with no significant differences in their magnitude. Furthermore, both candidate vaccines induced comparable levels of total S, and S2-specific IgG binding antibodies. However, MVA-SARS-2-ST consistently elicited higher amounts of S1-, S receptor binding domain (RBD), and SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies in both vaccination protocols. Overall, we found very comparable immune responses following short- or long-interval immunization. Thus, our results suggest that the chosen time intervals may not be suitable to observe potential differences in antigen-specific immunity when testing different prime-boost intervals with our candidate vaccines in the mouse model. Despite this, our data clearly showed that MVA-SARS-2-ST induced superior humoral immune responses relative to MVA-SARS-2-S after both immunization schedules.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The transition towards Competency-Based Medical Education at the Cumming School of Medicine was accelerated by the reduced clinical time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to define a standard protocol for setting Entrustable Professional Activity (EPA) achievement thresholds and examine their feasibility within the clinical clerkship. METHODS: Achievement thresholds for each of the 12 AFMC EPAs for graduating Canadian medical students were set by using sequential rounds of revision by three consecutive groups of stakeholders and evaluation experts. Structured communication was guided by a modified Delphi technique. The feasibility/consequence models of these EPAs were then assessed by tracking their completion by the graduating class of 2021. RESULTS: The threshold-setting process resulted in set EPA achievement levels ranging from 1 to 8 across the 12 AFMC EPAs. Estimates were stable after the first round for 9 of 12 EPAs. 96.27% of EPAs were successfully completed by clerkship students despite the shortened clinical period. Feasibility was predicted by the slowing rate of EPA accumulation overtime during the clerkship. CONCLUSION: The process described led to consensus on EPA achievement thresholds. Successful completion of the assigned thresholds was feasible within the shortened clerkship.[Box: see text].

ABSTRACT

Respiratory viral infections (RVIs) are of major clinical importance in immunocompromised patients and represent a substantial cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with hematologic malignancies and those who have undergone hematopoietic cell transplantation. Similarly, patients receiving immunotherapy with CD19-targeted chimeric antigen receptor-modified T cells, natural killer cells, and genetically modified T-cell receptors are susceptible to RVIs and progression to lower respiratory tract infections. In adoptive cellular therapy recipients, this enhanced susceptibility to RVIs results from previous chemotherapy regimens such as lymphocyte-depleting chemotherapy conditioning regimens, underlying B-cell malignancies, immune-related toxicities, and secondary prolonged, profound hypogammaglobulinemia. The aggregated risk factors for RVIs have both immediate and long-term consequences. This review summarizes the current literature on the pathogenesis, epidemiology, and clinical aspects of RVIs that are unique to recipients of adoptive cellular therapy, the preventive and therapeutic options for common RVIs, and appropriate infection control and preventive strategies.

In the age of COVID-19, many governments imposed social distancing, work-from-home, and crowd control measures, which continue to affect economic development and forces service providers to be increasingly reliant on e-commerce and m-commerce platform technology. Moreover, due to the availability of 5G network speeds, cell phone applications and the Internet services have become indispensable for future smart lifestyles, prompting brick-and-mortar businesses to shift their sales models to mobile network operators (MNOs). To popularize the use of m-commerce, it is critical to ensure that service platforms operate well and give the customer what they want. It is thus essential to create a comprehensive and complete performance framework for the evaluation of m-commerce services. In this paper, a hybrid model is developed to explore this issue and the effectiveness and robustness of the model is illustrated by an application to two major food delivery platforms in Taiwan. The Bayesian Best Worst Method (BBWM) is applied to identify the criteria weights and ranks. The judgments of 14 experts are integrated to obtain the optimal group criteria weights. The performance data were obtained from a survey of 210 experienced users of these delivery platforms. The difference between the actual performance of each delivery platform and the aspiration level (AL) was calculated using the modified Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (modified PROMETHEE) to determine an overall score for each delivery platform. A sensitivity analysis was also conducted and comparison made with other Multiple Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods. The results show that information security and privacy, integrity, and mobile transaction service are the most important criteria, with Food Panda performing better than the other mobile food delivery service provider. The proposed evaluation framework is useful for performance evaluation of mobile commerce service quality, and providing effective suggestions to assist decision-makers in creating development strategies.

ABSTRACT

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the release of toxic disinfection by-products (DBPs) has increased due to the intensive, large-scale use of disinfectants. Halogenated benzoquinones (HBQs) are among the most toxic DBPs, but there is no rapid, convenient, and economical detection method. In this study, a novel PDIL/BDD-modified electrode was prepared in a mixed solvent of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and acetonitrile (ACN) by electrochemical polymerization with a di-ionic ionic liquid containing alkenyl groups as the monomer. The electrochemical behavior of tetra-chloro-p-benzoquinone (TCBQ) on the modified electrode was studied. By studying the cyclic voltammetry behavior of TCBQ on the PDIL/BDD electrode, it was concluded that the electrode reactions of TCBQ included the reduction of TCBQ to TCBQH2 (C1) and the reduction of bis-quinhydrone imidazole π-π type charge transfer complex to TCBQH2 (C2). By studying the SWV responses of TCBQ in the concentration range of 1-100 ng/L on the PDIL/BDD electrode, it was found that the reduction peak current (Ipa) had a linear relationship with the concentration. The electrochemical SWV technique was used to detect the concentration of trace TCBQ in water and is expected to be used for the detection of other HBQs in drinking water and swimming pool water.

ABSTRACT

Context Anxiety is one of the mood changes that occur postcoronavirus disease-2019 (post-COVID-19) and interfere with patients' daily activity. After supposed clinical and radiological improvement to COVID-19, some still experience somatic complaints such as sensation of dyspnea. Aims Evaluating the relation between COVID-19 survivors and anxiety and to what extent this could affect their functional status. Settings and design Ain Shams University Hospital, survey study. Patients and methods The survey included 120 patients post-COVID-19 one month or more and free symptoms attending Ain Shams University Hospitals Chest Outpatient Clinic for follow-up, 45% of them were in the age group 35-55 years, 56.7% were females, 78.3% had high education, and 27.5% were smokers. All included study participants were subjected to computed tomography of chest, oxygen saturation, State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) Arabic version, and Modified Medical Research Council (MMRC) Dyspnea Scale. chi 2 -test (or Fisher's exact test) was used to compare data between different groups. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the correlation between the features of individuals and their degree of anxiety. Results The most annoying COVID-19 symptoms as reported by this study participants were body pains (32.5%). About 61.7% of participants had high-state anxiety and 51.7% had high-trait anxiety. The age group 20-34 years was significantly associated with higher frequency of moderate or high-state anxiety (P0.05), male sex was significantly associated with lower frequency of moderate or high-state anxiety compared with females (P0.05). Conclusions Age and sex were important association factors with the prevalence of anxiety in post-COVID-19 patients. Higher grades of dyspnea were associated with higher probability of development of moderate or severe post-COVID anxiety.Copyright © 2023 Wolters Kluwer Medknow Publications. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

We developed an ELISPOT assay for evaluating Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV)‒specific T-cell responses in dromedary camels. After single modified vaccinia virus Ankara-MERS-S vaccination, seropositive camels showed increased levels of MERS-CoV‒specific T cells and antibodies, indicating suitability of camel vaccinations in disease-endemic areas as a promising approach to control infection.
